The Screen Guide

Dee the Cabaret Performer has achieved what every performer craves, fame, fortune and a loving fiance. During her younger years, as Indigenous male Dean, Dee struggles to find acceptance from her father eventually ending with Dee being banished from the family home after another violent confrontation. After several years, Dee is finally contacted by her mother on the eve of Dee's big show to tell her her father is in hospital and doesn't have long to live. Before Dee goes out for her encore, her mother arrives with a promo picture of Dee in full dress. On the back are the words "To my darling Dee, love Dad".
