The Screen Guide

Documentary coverage of the 1986 annual 'Points North' tour by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra to towns in North Queensland, on a specially-chartered train. Conductor Werner Andreas Albert and members of the orchestra are shown both on and off-stage, bike-riding, swimming, preparing for performances, playing cricket and chatting together, as the tour journeys from Brisbane to Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, Bowen and Maryborough. The program includes a performance of Peter Sculthorpe's 'Sun Music III', and a speech by Queensland Minister for Mines, Ivan Gibbs, as well as performances by local school bands. The program concludes with the return of the train to Brisbane.
