The Screen Guide

Afghani artist, Ghulam Sakhi Hazara, was forced to flee his home to escape the Taliban. His harrowing journey to Australia on a small, unseaworthy boat soon became the start of a nightmare. On his arrival to Australia, Sakhi was taken to a remote detention centre where he was imprisoned for 17 months. Sakhi's art became his only form of relief from this stressful environment. PORTRAIT OF SAKHI bears witness to this journey through Sakhi's intimate narrative and mesmerising paintings.
