The Screen Guide

This Anzac special follows Sister Susan Connelly’s campaign to have East Timor’s unique wartime contribution recognised, with a ‘Companion of the Order of Australia’. During WW2 the Timorese risked their lives to help the Australian Commandos known as 'Sparrow Force'. They helped to wage guerrilla war against the Japanese by providing them with food and shelter, carrying their equipment and supplies. When the Australians were evacuated, tens of thousands of Timorese were killed by the Japanese in reprisal for their support of the Australians.
