The Screen Guide

On 5 January 1997 two round-the-world yachtsmen capsized two and a half thousand kilometres south-west of Perth. Within hours Australia mounted one of the largest and most remote rescue missions ever undertaken. The program explores the technology behind the satellite distress beacons, the modern immersion suits, the communication and anti-submarine warfare systems and the medical practices employed to treat hypothermia, dehydration and exhaustion. It's a behind the scenes look at the people and equipment that delivered Englishman Tony Bullimore and Frenchmann, Terry Dubois to safety...It was a combination of science, skill and courage.
