The Screen Guide

SHANTI LIFE is about the pursuit of happiness through looking at the lives of westerners in the East. Through five characters who have been living in either India or Nepal for more than ten years, we look at some of the various styles of life available to foreigners in these countries and the different motivations that guide them. The filmmaker has a subtle presence as protagonist and with her we travel within these two countries, questioning the nature of happiness and where it can be found. Seeing the choices this diverse range of characters have made, from a businessman to a Buddhist monk, reminds us of the choices we all have wherever we are.
