The Screen Guide

Simpson is the sort of town that none of us like to think exists in Australia today - a town of rural poor. Isolated, three hours drive west of Melbourne, it has no public transport, only two shops, and no work. The houses are mostly Commission, the residents exist on welfare. They come from Melbourne and have been dumped in Simpson. Most are single-parent families, victims of city housing shortages. This is a bleak story of how some Australians lead their lives in a not-so-remote area.
