At the age of 45 Gaby Kennard realised she was a non-achiever. Her illegitimate father died before she was born. Her alcoholic mother committed suicide. Her second marriage ended when her husband left for another woman. She was alone with two children. She mortgaged her house and bought a secondhand eight-year-old single-engined plane. Against incredible odds she became the first Australian woman to fly solo around the world.
