The Screen Guide

Adapted from Guy de Maupassant's eponymous short story and counterpoised with several other texts from the writings of Susan Sontag, Michel Foucault and Maupassant's personal correspondence. The text takes the form of a diary, written from the point-of-view of a first-person narrator who gradually chronicles his descent into a state of uncertainty and possible madness. Whether or not the Horla, a supposedly invisible being who vampirises the narrator, actually exists remains ambiguous.
