The Screen Guide

At 85, John Olsen, Australia’s greatest living artist embarks on the second largest mural of his career, and it may well be his last. This film follows the painting of ‘The King Sun’, from blank panels to the installation of the final work. This is the first time a film has been made of an Olsen work which covers the painting from the first brush stroke to completed work. Throughout the film, the painting of the mural is interspersed with John’s observations on his life, what it is to be 85, how he faces his mortality and comments on some of his major works and influences.
