Few species have suffered as much through hunting as Finland's wild forest reindeer. Wiped out half a century ago, the herds scattered across the vast Russian front in an effort to escape the bullets. Today in an ironic twist it's the Finnish hunters who are encouraging this noble beast back home. No longer a target, the wild forest reindeer is finally being recognised for what it is - one of Scandinavia's most endangered species, a creature of myth and legend, a true beast of the wild.
