The Screen Guide

This documentary covers the early days of whaling from Europe to Australia: the expedition of the Discovery to South Georgia: the work undertaken by such organisations as Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace against the whaling industry: to the present day alternative - whale and dolphin watching. Some countries now make more money from whale watching than they ever did from whaling. The aim of this program is to show what happened in the past, what the future offers, as the fear of continual ruthless exploitation of whale resources can no longer be tolerated.
