Ben is a young soccer player who believes that winning his team’s MVP trophy will solve his family problems. His mother has recently separated from her long-term boyfriend Cam, and both Ben and her are still living in grief. When the awards day finally comes, Ben misses out to his friend Mike, who can barely kick a ball. He is also the son of Cam’s new girlfriend. Horrified at the injustice, Ben sets out to steal what’s rightfully his, but is caught by Cam in the process. It opens up huge personal wounds for Ben that he doesn’t want to deal with, and as a result, forces him to confront whom his real friends and family are… and what is real, and what is illusion.
