The Screen Guide

After a general introduction to Yirrkala and the nearby bauxite mine the film goes to Baniyala, the homeland settlement of the Madarrpa clan, on the northern shores of Blue Mud Bay. WE ARE THE LANDOWNER reveals a very positive picture, a picture of Aborignal people running their own affairs and exploiting Western technology in the process. The film gives an excellent insight into the decision making process at work for Aborignal people and shows some pertinent and new aspects of the Land Rights issue.
