The Screen Guide

This film is much more than a look at an extraordinary environment: it shows how man and animal can live together; how a harmony of nature and modern man is possible. WILDERNESS REGAINED examines an archipelago of 108 tropical islands in the Indian Ocean off the West Australian coast. With an extraordinary and isolated environment, a rare time-share system has evolved in the islands: a flourishing rock lobster industry thrives amid one of the largest seabird nesting ares in the world; rare Australian sea lions are returning, Roseate terns are increasing; Ospreys breed in man-made and natural environments; native plants are recovering; and fishing is controlled sufficiently for the tropical coral underwater world to continue. A film of hope - and a must for all divers, explorers, armchair adventures, bird watchers and all those interested in the natural world.
