The Screen Guide

The image of mothers and mothering has changed radically in the 1980s. This program contrasts the experiences of a mother who has chosen to pursue a career, and a woman who has opted for the more traditional role. Deborah Brennan is a lecturer in economics at Sydney University, who sees no reason why she should give up her career for her child; Liz Crawford opposes this view, and argues that there are biological imperatives that no mother can ignore.
