The Screen Guide

Chris Tamwoy is an inspired, and inspiring young talent from Badu Island, Torres Straits, now living in Logan, near Brisbane. This 18-year old wowed audiences live, online and radio via TripleJ airplay, with shows at Woodford Festival and Brisbane's 2013 TEDx conference. His humble yet excitable personality is always paying respects to country, his culture, and his heroes - of which there are many. This documentary opens windows to some of Chris' inspirations – including his nan who raised him, and the artists that shape his music and ideals. One independent Australian artist stands out from the crowd - John Butler, and we see Chris's reaction, and the advice given when he meets John at the Byron Bluesfest. This is a glimpse of the early days of a bright new star.
