GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM six Australians explore the real lives and historical struggles of refugees. Following in their footsteps they trace, in reverse, the journey that refugees take to reach Australia. In the first episode they are immersed in the everyday lives of settled refugees in contemporary Australia; in the second episode they explore the experiences of boat people and internally displaced persons in East Timor; and in the final episode they join refugees in the vast Kakuma camp in Kenya.

Many options for format rights to Australian shows have been sold abroad in the past five years, but that’s been the end of the road for the majority. Where production has occurred, very few have gone to a second series in the same territory, and generally that has to happen for there to be any chance of real upside.
