The Screen Guide

1943. Deep in the jungle of a Japanese POW camp, on the Thailand-Burma Railway, Lieutenant-Colonel Dorrigo Evans is haunted by the memory of his all too brief love affair with his uncle’s wife, Amy Mulvaney. It both sustains and torments him as he battles to preserve life in a world beset with death. Amy is never far from Dorrigo’s mind, despite his long-lasting marriage to Ella Evans, clandestine affair with Lynette Mason and life-altering friendship with fellow solider, Henry Gardiner. NARROW ROAD uses a non-linear story structure, weaving together multiple time periods, to create the sum of a man’s life. Whatever stage of life we find him in, the overwhelming theme of the series is always most evident - love.
