From the end of ‘87 to mid-'90, the Hordern Pavilion was the wildest place to party on the planet. This documentary tells the story of how the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, against the backdrop of AIDS, the growing tsunami of the gay rights movement and the explosion of Oxford Street’s nightclubbing precinct, introduced an eager audience to this historic venue where a new music called House and a new drug called Ecstasy collided in one place and time creating a magic that would never happen again. Word of these parties went global and for many they became a reprieve from normality and an escape from the devastation of AIDS. To some, they were dancing for their lives.
