The level of foreign production activity in Australia is influenced by a range of factors inlcuding the Australian dollar, and government rebates and incentives. The overall trend for foreign spend in Australia, on both shoot and PDV-only titles, has been upwards, as has the proportion of total Australian expenditure.

In 2024/25, foreign shoot and PDV-only titles spent $1.6 billion, up 72% on the previous year, and 44% above the 5-year average. This total includes:

• Spend of $1.3 billion from foreign titles that shot in Australia, nearly triple the previous year, and nearly double the 5-year average.
• Spend of $306 million on foreign PDV-only titles, down 31% on the previous year, and 14% below the 5-year average.
