Christian will be in Australia to view new feature films that meet the criteria for potential preselection for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival which runs from 16 to 27 May 2012.

The Cannes Film Festival is one of the world’s most important festivals. In 2011, there were 26,881 professional accreditations for the festival and the market (the Marché du Film runs in parallel to the Festival de Cannes).

In 2011, Australian films invited to screen at Cannes were the feature films Sleeping Beauty (w/d: Julia Leigh) in Competition and Toomelah (w/d: Ivan Sen) in Un Certain Regard, plus short film Bear (w/d: Nash Edgerton).

Filmmakers with feature films that they would like Christian to view should first check the eligibility criteria on the Cannes Film Festival website before contacting Screen Australia.

Filmmakers with suitable documentaries should submit directly to the festival.

Submission deadline to Screen Australia is Wednesday 7 December 2011.
