Indigenous programs now open

Applications are open for two new programs: The Indigenous Feature Documentary Initiative and the Indigenous Producers Initiative.

The Indigenous Feature Documentary Initiative is a rare opportunity for established Indigenous filmmakers with a production-ready project to make a feature length documentary that will premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival.

We’re partnering with the Adelaide Film Festival, production house KOJO and the National Film and Sound Archive for this initiative, which will see the successful applicant supported with:

  • $600,000 in funding from Screen Australia and the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund

  • post-production support from KOJO to the value of $78,000

  • access to the NFSA archives to the value of $60,000

We’re looking for a documentary that has innovative observational or social justice themes, and an Indigenous writer and Indigenous director attached.

The deadline for applications is Friday 26 June 2015.

The Indigenous Producers Initiative will support up to eight emerging Indigenous filmmakers to develop comprehensive producing skills. Over 12 months the successful applicants will get:

  • Four workshops to develop production skills from story development through to creating finance plans
  • Coveted producer-attachment placements with established film and TV producers
  • Support to attend the 2015 Screen Forever Conference and the 2016 Australian International Documentary Conference
