Busan International Film Festival programmer to review Australian films

Screen Australia will host a visit by Dosin Pak, programmer for the Busan International Film Festival, in July. Dosin will view new Australian films for pre-selection for the festival, which takes place early October.

Dosin will make recommendations about narrative feature films for the World Cinema, Flash Forward and Midnight Passion sections.

The World Cinema section showcases feature films from non-Asian filmmakers around the world, including those from established and award-winning filmmakers.

Flash Forward is for new narrative features from non-Asian filmmakers reflecting bold vision and creativity.

Midnight Passion screens the newest horror, sci-fi and cult films.

In 2014, Kill Me Three Times screened in World Cinema; The Mule screened in Flash Forward; Paper Planes screened in Wide Angle; and Wyrmwood screened in Midnight Passion.

One of the largest festivals in Asia, the Busan International Film Festival is now in its 20th year. The Asian Film Market, Asian Project Market, Asian Cinema Fund and Asian Film Academy run at the same time.

Busan’s eligibility requirements state that films should not have been completed before October 2014, and duration for features must be 60 minutes or more.
