Lucy Gaffy announced as director's attachment

The Australian Directors Guild (ADG), Screen Australia and Cordell Jigsaw Zapruder (CJZ) announce director Lucy Gaffy as the director’s attachment on upcoming TV drama Bond.

Lucy will be attached to acclaimed feature film and TV drama director Mark Joffe on CJZ’s Bond, which is currently in pre-production. The industry incentive program is funded by Screen Australia and managed by the ADG for emerging directors to develop their craft.

Lucy Gaffy (pictured) said, "I am so excited about this wonderful opportunity to work with a filmmaker like Mark Joffe - a storyteller whom I have so long admired - and deeply grateful to Kingston, Franky and all the marvellous team at the ADG for their continued support of emerging directors."

Lucy Gaffy is an award-winning filmmaker and Masters graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS). She has been working in the industry for over seven years across a broad range of productions including short films, documentaries, long-form projects and television commercials. She received an AFI nomination for her film The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock which subsequently screened at over 60 international festivals.

Screen Australia’s Senior Development Executive, Nerida Moore, said, “Screen Australia recognizes the very important role of hands-on professional development for talent with this scheme. We congratulate Lucy, and look forward to watching her talent and skills continue to grow with this experience."

Following the success of CJZ’s House of HancockBond will tell the rags to riches to rags tale of controversial business tycoon Alan Bond – a man with an insatiable appetite for the excesses of life - women, fame, money, crime and everything in-between.

Producer Paul Bennett said “Bond will be a great opportunity for any young director to witness a big production from the ground up and to follow Mark Joffe through the rigors of directing a biopic of one of Australia’s most controversial figures.”

This is the first of three TV drama directors’ attachments that the ADG has rolled out so far this year.

Previous TV drama attachments include Chris Stollery attached to Grant Brown on House Husbands Julietta Boscolo attached to Geoff Bennett on Playmaker’s Love Child and Nora Niasari on Matchbox’ Secret City.
