Toronto feature selector visits Australia in April

International programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Jane Schoettle will view new feature films for consideration for the 2016 festival.

Screen Australia is pleased to again be hosting Jane, who has been the official representative for Australia since 2008.

"Australian films have increasingly been festival highlights for TIFF's enthusiastic and discerning audience. Like myself, our audience has come to appreciate the remarkable breadth of talent that the filmmaking community holds--a pool of talent that I am privileged to engage with every year,” said Jane.

The 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival will take place 8 to 18 September. It is one of the major international film festivals, offering a large public screening program, alongside a busy and growing unofficial market. 2016 attendances were approximately 473,000 at the festival, and 5,400 industry professionals. The festival has been successful in attracting premieres of Oscar-buzz films while also programming smaller-budget independent feature films, genre and documentary films, and short films for the international competition.

TIFF’s eligibility guidelines can be found on the TIFF website.

Filmmakers with eligible Australian feature films should email Dale Fairbairn or call 02 8113 5980 by 11 April 2016.

Please note that documentary and short films should be submitted directly to TIFF. Details on how to submit can be found here

The deadline for these sections is 6 May 2016.
