Bump Season 2 is currently in production

Stan and Screen Australia have announced brand new seasons of the record-breaking Stan Original Series Bump from Australian producers Dan and John Edwards and Roadshow Films, with Season 2 currently in production in Sydney.

Following the series’ unprecedented success with audiences and critics alike, Bump Season 3 will begin production in 2022.

Claudia Karvan returns to star in the new season and will co-produce, alongside Dan and John Edwards. Stars Nathalie Morris, Carlos Sanson Jnr and Angus Sampson are also set to return, alongside the series’ stellar supporting cast.

Screen Australia Head of Content Sally Caplan said, “Not only has Bump proven enormously popular with viewers on Stan with its relatable characters and entertaining scripts, it also continues to provide great opportunities for emerging creatives to further their careers. We’re very proud to continue to support the talented team at Roadshow Rough Diamond to bring Seasons 2 and 3 to life together, and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for Oly, Santi and their families.”

Stan and Roadshow Rough Diamond are also partnering on other Stan Original projects, including Year Of and Ironside.

Stan Acting Chief Executive Officer Martin Kugeler said, “Partnering with the biggest producers from Australia and around the world to deliver high calibre homegrown projects is core to Stan’s original content strategy. Today’s announcement with Roadshow Rough Diamond reflects Stan’s commitment to investing in local production. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Roadshow Rough Diamond’s Dan and John Edwards on these new Stan Original projects.”

Roadshow Rough Diamond Co-Founders Dan and John Edwards said, “Stan has proven to be a perfect creative partner on both Bump and Romper Stomper. We’re thrilled to extend the relationship with Year Of and Ironside. This comes as Rough Diamond is at the beginning of an expansion phase as we bring creative producing partners under our umbrella.”

Led by Claudia Karvan (Angie Davis), who also acts as producer, the second season of the record-breaking Stan Original Series Bump welcomes back stars Nathalie Morris (Oly Chalmers-Davis) and Carlos Sanson Jnr (Santiago ‘Santi’ Hernandez), alongside Angus Sampson (Dom Chalmers), Catalina Palma (Angel), Safia Arain (Reema), Paula Garcia (Rosa Hernandez), Ioane Saula (Vince Ingram), Christian Byers (Bowie Chalmers-Davis), Claudia de Giusti (Bernadita), Miguel Andrade (Alejandro) and Ricardo Scheihing Vasquez (Matias Hernandez).

Season 2 begins with Oly and Santi in a new place of hope and uncertainty. They’ve had a baby, fallen in love, moved in together and then back out; now they might even get to know each other. Just four-ish months into baby Jacinda’s life, both families are also about to deal with the fallout after Rosa discovers Angie and Matias’ transgression.

Oly will be caught between her big dreams and her very small, rather high maintenance and yet adorable reality. Santi will find his unexpected fatherhood is taking him back to losing his mother as a child, and the impact it’s had on him and his dad. He’ll learn on the job about good decisions and bad ones, and the kind of father he really wants to be. A newly free Angie will be torn between her feelings for Matias and her promise to Oly. Dom will get another shot, and Bowie comes home. Rosa will struggle between family and freedom and attempt to come to terms with Matias’ betrayal.

Season 2 sees the return of directors Geoff Bennett (Wolf Creek) and Leticia Caceres (The True History of Billie the Kid), with Matthew Moore (The Great) and Jessica Tuckwell also directing. The series is created and co-written by Kelsey Munro, who is joined again by her season one writing team: Jessica Tuckwell, Timothy Lee, Mithila Gupta and Steven Arriagada, alongside Fernanda Penaloza.

Following the series’ unprecedented success with audiences and critics alike, Bump Season 3 will begin production in 2022.

The Stan Original Series Bump is produced by Roadshow Rough Diamond with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW. ITV Studios will manage international sales.
