Busan Festival selector visits Australia

In the week commencing 3 July 2017, Screen Australia will host Dosin Pak, the World Cinema programmer for Busan International Film Festival.

Dosin Pak will view new Australian films for festival preselection, including narrative feature films for the festival’s World Cinema, Flash Forward and Midnight Passion sections.

World Cinema showcases feature films from established, non-Asian filmmakers around the world, Flash Forward is for new narrative features from non-Asian filmmakers and Midnight Passion screens new horror, action and thriller films.

In recent years, Busan has selected Boys in the Trees, Bad Girl, Last Cab to Darwin, The Daughter, The Dressmaker and Backtrack.

Busan also host the Asian Film Market at the same time, which last year saw 157 companies from 24 nations participate.

Short films are also eligible for the festival’s Wide Angle section. Filmmakers with short films (up to 60 minutes long) should submit directly to the festival by 30 June.

The festival takes place from October 12-21 this year.
