Funding for two female filmmakers to attend AIMC

Creative Content Australia and Screen Australia are funding two female producers to attend the 2018 Australian International Movie Convention (AIMC).

In recognition of the 2018 World International Property Organisation theme Powering change: Women in innovation and creativity, Creative Content Australia and Screen Australia’s Gender Matters will fund two female producers to attend (AIMC) on the Gold Coast, Queensland, from 29 July until 2 August.

The AIMC is an annual cinema event in Australia that provides opportunities to network with local and international cinema exhibitors and distributors.

For two mid-level career producers, this is a unique opportunity to meet the key decision-makers including senior executives from international film studios, independent distributors, major cinema chains and exhibitors from all over the country.

The successful recipients will have access to briefing sessions as key distributors present their upcoming feature film slates, gain valuable insights into the competitive landscape, and learn about current trends and issues affecting the local theatrical market. Recipients will also have a series of one-on-one networking meetings.

The successful applicants will have their registration fees, return domestic flights to the Gold Coast, accommodation and meal allowance provided. Additional support may be available for the enhancement of pitching materials to the successful applicant.

Suitable applicants will:

  • be an Australian female mid-level producer with at least one screen credit, (film, television or online drama produced and distributed to audiences).
  • have at least one feature drama project in late stage development.
  • be available to attend AIMC from Monday 30 July until Wednesday 1 August. The Sunday night welcome event and Thursday screening program are optional.

Applicants must provide:

  • 1) a brief statement (500 words or less) outlining why you would like to attend AIMC and how you think it will benefit your career or personal development.
  • 2) a list of all/any of the feature films (drama*) you are currently developing and/or producing, including the title, a one-paragraph synopsis and the genre.  If the film is more fully developed, please feel free to provide additional information (cast, finance, etc)
  • 3) a CV/bio showing your previous credits and/or experience.

*Please note ‘drama’ in this instance is the industry term that refers to scripted content of any genre e.g. comedy, sci-fi, kids, drama etc

Email your application to [email protected] by 5pm Monday 2 July 2018.

Applications will be assessed by Creative Content Australia and the successful applicants will be notified by 9 July 2018.
