Local Murdi man Darryl McCarthy talks about a time in Cunnamulla when Bill Johnston bought the town together through the sport of boxing. Throughout the 60’s up until the late eighties at the town picture show Murdi’s and whites were segregated, but in the boxing ring everyone came together. The boxing ring was a place where Murdi’s were able to display their talent, travelling to other towns to fight for their titles.
