Wyrmwood: Apocalypse: scene breakdown

Co-writer/director Kiah Roache-Turner explains his process for making the ‘post-title credits scene’ from his feature film, Wyrmwood: Apocalypse.

In the 'scene breakdown' video series, filmmakers talk about their creative process and provide a unique insight into the making of a scene from their film or series.

The video is heavy on the spoilers so before you watch this scene breakdown, make sure you watch Wyrmwood: Apocalypse first, which is screening in cinemas around Australia from 10 February 2022.

In this third episode, co-writer/director Kiah Roache-Turner breaks down an early scene from his latest film in the zombie series, Wyrmwood: Apocalypse. Kiah explains how his sound team crafted zombie noises from the cries of babies and snarling dogs, as well as how appreciative he is to his art department for creating incredible gadgetry that actually worked.

Kiah also gives detailed accounts of the astonishing amount of set ups he and his crew achieved on the day they filmed the scene and how he had to abandon his planned story boards and be adaptable on set.
