HotDocs selects two Australian documentaries

The premiere Canadian international documentary festival HotDocs has announced its program for 2009, which will include the screening of two Australian documentaries.

Selected to screen in World Showcase is A Good Man, directed by Safina Uberoi. The film follows the story of Chris Rohrlach, an Australian sheep farmer willing to try anything to keep wife Rachel, who is a quadriplegic, out of long-term care. The documentary recently had its world premiere to rave reviews at the 2009 Adelaide Film Festival.

The second film in selection is Intangible Asset Number 82. Directed by Emma Franz, the film will screen in Next – a program showcasing documentaries about music, art and the creative process. The documentary has done well on the international festival circuit with selection in the 2008 Sao Paulo International Film Festival and the 2009 South by Southwest Film Festival.
