DIY DOCO wins educational publishing award
DIY DOCO is an interactive broadband website that encourages users to explore all facets of the documentary process.
The site contains video clips, text, sound and activities that users can interact with, edit and create. Combining a series of interactive tools with interviews with leading Australian practitioners such as Bob Connolly, Dennis K Smith, Helen Gaynor, Jeni McMahon and industry experts such as Dan Fill and Michael Gissing, DIY DOCO provides a fresh way to investigate documentary storytelling online.
DIY DOCO was produced in association with Tasmanian production company Roar Film, and features the voice of Julia Zemiro (RocKwiz) as the documentary guide.
The Awards – run by the Australian Publishers Association – were announced at a ceremony held last week in Melbourne. Announcing DIY DOCO as the winner it was said, “The judges were extremely impressed by this truly 21st century website. Broadcast quality footage is supported by engaging and educational interactive activities. The site is suitable for both teachers and students, and teachers from all disciplines will be inspired.”
