The Power of the Dream: behind the scenes

Creators, writers and actresses Alexandra Keddie and Bobbie-Jean Henning discuss how the pandemic couldn’t stop them from making their new web series The Power of the Dream.

Inspired by the Olympics and wanting to create a comedy web series in time for Tokyo 2020 was the driving force for best friends Alexandra Keddie and Bobbie-Jean Henning to hurry through their idea. Then a global pandemic occurred.

The girls however turned this setback to their advantage and remained positive.

“It gave us more time and we got to develop the scripts further and… it actually made our story stronger,” reflects Henning.

The series follows two best friend cousins who dream of competing in the Olympics despite them having no real athletic ability. For Keddie, it fuelled her competitive spirit.

“I’m not faking it much in this show. Like, that long jump is about as good as I get. And the gymnastics, I actually am really trying,” laughs Keddie.

The Power of the Dream is available to stream from Wednesday 14 July, 2021 on their Facebook Page and on Instagram.
