Asking For It – Behind the Scenes

Writer, director and series producer Tosca Looby delves into the issue of consent for her powerful new three-part documentary series Asking For It.

While making the 2021 documentary series See What You Made Me Do, director Tosca Looby wondered if television audiences were ready to examine the issue of domestic abuse.

“We thought it would struggle to find an audience because the material was so difficult,” says Looby. “But actually, it became one of SBS’ most-watched factual series.”

Looby is now following up with Asking for It, another three-part series presented by journalist Jess Hill, but which focuses on the issue of consent.

In this behind-the-scenes video, Looby talks about the impact documentaries can have on society and what she hopes people of all genders can learn and consider by watching Asking for It.
