Niu Studios

The name Niu - 牛 translates into “cow” in Chinese. It’s young slang for ‘awesome’ or ‘exciting.’ Phonetically, it is close to New because we want to bring fresh perspectives with our projects and give voices to the underrepresented communities. Having a Chinese name for the company is a way for our founder, Vee Shi, to stay connected to his culture and identity, and the commitment to produce inclusive stories which transcend race, language and cultural differences.
