John's documentary work has been broadcast around the country and shown in film festivals around the globe. ‘9 in 10,’ his heartfelt story about Indigenous suicide in the remote Aboriginal communities of Western Australia, won Best Documentary at ‘New York International Documentary Film Festival’. It went on to receive the Impact DOCS ‘Award of Merit’ in California, July 2020. John has also been the recipient of the best documentary of the year ‘IF Award’ for ‘Unlikely Travellers.’ John has a social conscience and many of his documentaries are about social justice issues facing the world. (Including: Disability/Indigenous issues and Environmental issues).
